Private Favignana & Levanzo Boat Tours

Fourteen of the fifty-two Egadi boat tours we track are private charters — priced per boat rather than per person, from $790 to $1,742 for the day. That range sits so far above the $46 shared cruise that most people stop reading, which is a mistake, because the two numbers are not measuring the same thing.

The arithmetic first

A shared seat on a twelve-guest boat costs $58 to $99. A seat on the mini-yacht costs $87 plus a €20 skipper fee at the quay. So on the larger hulls — the Marsala boat at $97 a head and the Favignana gozzo at $102 — a full private charter costs roughly what a shared small-group seat costs, with nobody else aboard.

Read the capacity, not just the price. This is where these listings mislead most easily. The Trapani charter’s $836 covers up to four people — $209 each, a genuine premium against $64 for a seat on an excellent RIB. The Marsala boat’s $1,161 covers twelve, which is $97 each. The more expensive listing is the cheaper day per person, and nothing in the search results tells you that.

The crossover is around eight people. Below it, chartering is a real premium you are paying for exclusivity. Above it, the maths flips and the boat is simply yours.

What you get that a shared boat cannot give you

The western side of Favignana. Cala del Preveto and Cala Rotonda sit on the island’s western coast. The shared fleet runs a fixed loop around the eastern coves — Cala Azzurra, Bue Marino, Cala Rossa — and turns for Levanzo. A charter can go round. If you have already done a shared Egadi day and want something different, this is the thing that is different.

Avoiding the fleet. In August every shared boat is at Cala Rossa at roughly the same time, because they all left at roughly the same time. A skipper working for your group alone can invert the order and put you where the boats are not. This is the single most valuable thing about a charter and it does not appear in any listing’s bullet points.

A real lunch. Most private charters here cook and serve on board — Sicilian products, local wine, prosecco, fruit — rather than handing out crackers. The Trapani luxury charter is explicit about it, and it is the best-reviewed private boat on the route at 4.9.

Your own schedule. Departure time, how long you sit at each cove, whether you skip Favignana town entirely and spend the extra hour swimming. With small children, or with anybody who does not enjoy being managed, that is worth a lot.

Three ports, three characters

Trapani has the best-reviewed private boat — Exclusive Boat Trapani at 4.9 across nine bookings, $836 with lunch included, up to twelve. It is the safest private booking on the route on evidence rather than on promises.

The honest caveat about reviews

Private listings accrue reviews far more slowly than shared ones, because a private operator running one group a day sells a fraction of the seats a large cruise sells. Several of the charters here sit at a perfect 5.0 on one or two reviews, and the newest has none at all.

That is a throughput signal, not a quality signal — but it does mean you have less evidence to go on than when you book a tour with 448 reviews behind it. If a track record matters more to you than exclusivity, the twelve-guest shared boats give you both a small group and hundreds of reviews.
