Favignana: daily boat tour from Marsala with wine tasting

About This Experience

Navigare le Egadi are the Gandolfo family, and the reason this tour exists in a different category from every other Marsala departure is that they make wine. The aperitif served on board is poured from bottles they produced themselves, which is a rare thing to be able to say about a boat trip.

The day runs on a dinghy out of Marsala, with stops for swimming and diving straight off the boat and snorkelling gear provided. The coastline covered is Favignana's best: the caves and the striking coves of Cala Rossa, Cala Azzurra and Bue Marino, with skipper Ignazio Gandolfo running the route.

There is time ashore in the narrow streets of the old fishing village, and the family frame that part deliberately as meeting people rather than sightseeing — the tuna fishermen, the shops, the ordinary life of the place out of season.

The day finishes with a sunset aperitif at the Stagnone, the shallow lagoon between Marsala and Mozia with its salt pans and windmills. At $139 per person with a guide, a skipper, snorkelling gear, wine and a full Sicilian aperitif of local products, this is the most distinctive product on the Marsala side of the route.
