About This Experience

The longest day in this catalogue — nine hours — and the shared Marsala departure that covers both islands properly. You meet the skipper at the Marsala marina at 09:00 and sail at 09:30, with about half an hour of crossing past the Lilibeo coast and the Stagnone lagoon before Favignana comes up.

The island is circumnavigated rather than sampled. Cala Azzurra is first, with time to dive from the boat, snorkel and sunbathe, then the route runs round to Cala Rossa, Bue Marino and the Grotta degli Innamorati, alternating swim stops with stretches of scenic sailing.

Around 13:00 the boat stops at Favignana harbour for about an hour. You can walk the village with the crew, or go off on your own to the Tonnara or Palazzo Florio, get a granita, and do the shopping that everybody ends up doing. The afternoon takes in Levanzo before the run back to Marsala.

Is nine hours too long?

It is the longest day here, and that is the point — it buys a full circuit of Favignana rather than a run along the eastern coves. If you would rather be back by mid-afternoon, a six-hour departure from Favignana itself is the better shape.

Why leave from Marsala instead of Trapani?

Marsala's marina is quieter and easier to park at, and the crossing passes the Stagnone lagoon and its salt pans. It is also the natural port if you are staying south of Trapani.

Is lunch included?
